“iCOVID” International Conference on Virus Influenced Disaster

During this period of Pandemic, Park College of Engineering and Technology organised an International Conference on Virus Influenced Disaster on Virtual Mode. The conference was held on 07th & 8th Sep 2020
The Two-day online International conference “iCOVID International Conference on Virus
Influenced Disaster” organized by the department of Biomedical Engineering, Park College
of Engineering & Technology on 07.09.2020 & 08.09.2020.
Dr.Anusha Chief Executive Officer of Park Institutions and Dr.G.Mohankumar Principal of
Park College of Engineering and Technology inaugurated the virtual conference. All the
heads of the department, faculties, students from our institution and participants from various
institution approximately 175 people were in the attendance.
The conference drew a wide array of participants from reputed institutions. The Key areas of
the session in the conference are Robotic, Embedded IOT etc. The best paper award was
awarded to Mr.Mohammed Yasin.M, from Dhaanish Ahmed Institute of Technology,
Coimbatore.& Mr. Raakesh.R, from Sri Eshwar College of Engineering, Coimbatore. and
Ms.Salehabee.N, from Park College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore.
The first keynote speaker Dr. Sivarajan Thandeeswaran, MBBS, MRCP(UK) Consultant in
Stroke and Neurovascular, General Internal and Geriatric Medicine from Kauvery Hospital,
Chennai, gave an interesting overview about “Importance of Innovation in COVID-19
era” on 07.09.2020 at 11.00 am. His presentation dealt with the role of creativity and
innovation in the fight against COVID-19 with regard to the changes in society and our daily
routines also by implementing preventive practices to reduce the risk of infection.
The second keynote speaker Dr Uma maheswari.V, M.S.General Surgery, D.G.O., Senior
Assistant Professor, General Surgery Department Coimbatore medical college opened the
afternoon session with the topic “COVID Pandemic – Effects and challenges on
Humanity” on 07.09.2020 at 3.00 pm. Her presentation was about the challenges to prevent
the possible spread of this virus pandemic. She emphasised healthcare workers, are working
excruciatingly hard for the welfare of the patients and to minimise the damage to the society
The third keynote speaker Dr.Paul Priyesh Vijaykumar, Assistant Professor, University of
Kentucky, Lexington United States. Showed remarkable footages on the topic “An Overview
disease and the immune response. He shared his opinions and expertise answering numerous
questions reducing the severity of infection that can spread during the pandemic and higher
The fourth keynote speaker Er.Vijaya Sankaran M.E, Chief Technology Officer, VESRAD
Technologies Pvt.Ltd. Chennai. Focussed his presentation on the topic “COVID-19
Pandemic – A Flow Physics Perspective” on 08.09.2020 at 2.30 pm. He initiated his
presentation to prevent infection and to find time-tested strategy of social distancing, hand
hygiene and wearing of a face mask to contain the spread of Covid-19. He related
containment strategies will be flow-physics based, and advanced Computational Fluid
Dynamics (CFD) to arrive at realistic design solutions
The fifth keynote speaker Er.Trushula Nerukar M.S Compliance auditor at Providence
St.Joseph Risk Integrity Services & Compliance Manager at Edward Life Sciences
California, United States. She intrigued the participants with the topic “COVID Pandemic –
FDA Guidance and Clinical Trials” on 08.09.2020 at 5.30 pm. She focussed on a new,
unforeseen barrier has been the emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus
2 causing the corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic across the globe. She
suggested Extending virtual support for patients would hopefully lead to an increase in
participation in clinical trials.

Dr. Anusha, CEO, Park Institutions spoke on the occasion and congratulated the Dept of Bio
Medical Engineering, PCET for organising this conference at the point of time where the
whole world is crippled due to the Pandemic.
