PROJECT “KALAM VANAM” Inauguration – Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s Birthday & Engineers Day Celebration at Park Institutions
Coimbatore 15 Oct 2019: An Interschool Mega technical, cultural and sports event “IMAGINATION” was organised by Park Institutions and held on its premises on 15 Oct 2019. India’s “PADMAN”, inventor of the low-cost sanitary pad making machine, the world-famous social entrepreneur from Coimbatore Padma Shri Arunachalam Muruganantham was the Chief Guest of the Mega fest.
Around 650 students from 41 schools in the district of Coimbatore and Tirupur participated and exhibited their cultural, technical and sports talents.
Dr Anusha R., the CEO, of Park Institutions, declared open the Event in the morning.
During her speech at the Valedictory function, she recalled the sweet memory of receiving the “Green Kalam” award from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam for planting 1 lakh saplings and urged the students to work hard to make his dream of “Vision 2020” come true.
“Imagination” is not an ordinary event, it invites students to “think different” and “innovate”. Someone thought about why mobile should have a keypad and invented a touch screen. Someone thought about why a vehicle should run with gasoline and invented battery vehicles. Students with their ability should innovate useful things for society.
She also inaugurated “Kalam Vanam”, and distributed saplings to the Schools. Kalam Vanam is a project which will assist the school students to grow saplings at their school with the guidance of a specialised team from Park Institutions. With the strong message of Abdul Kalam “Small aim is a Crime” she concluded her speech.
During his speech, Padmashri Arunachalam Padmanaban narrated his journey of inventing low cost sanitary pads with self innovated low cost sanitary manufacturing units. His vision for healthy women has led him to this invention and gained many accolades in his life. He encouraged the students to involve in Research and Development to achieve greater heights in life. He also added, that Inspired by his story, the film “PADMAN” was shot with Akshay Kumar as Hero and very soon the film will come in tamil with Dhanush as the lead actor.
The event ended with distribution of prizes to the winners in various events.
